Cramer Coding Community (CCC) is a beginner and experienced-friendly exploratory club aimed towards creating a welcoming and inclusive space for those interested in STEAM careers, specifically those that are computer science related, and provide examples of the many different job fields they expand over. The club is run by and features Garber High School student and alumni leaders. Anyone attending Cramer Junior High School that is interested is invited to apply.
When will we meet?
Meeting times for 2024 are TBD
What will we explore?
Topics:
- Basic Programming Principles
- The Internet
- CyberSecurity
- Healthy Tech Habits and Digital Etiquette
- Inside the Computer/Computer Hardware
- Programming with JavaScript
- Coding with HTML and CSS
- CAD using TinkerCAD
- Graphic Design
- Robotics
At the end of the club, students will make a creative project related to their favorite topic that will be presented at an end-of-session banquet.
We hope to teach our students the principles of coding through hands-on experience with the Wonder Workshop series of robots known as Dot, Dash, and Cue, which use drag and drop that students fit together like puzzle pieces to ensure the code will work as well as real code. Learn more about these funny little robots by clicking here. From Dot and Dash, we will gradually work into writing JavaScript programs. We believe this makes for a linear system where students progress through a structured and tiered support system to learn the fundamentals of coding.
